Bengal again number one in 100-Days’ Work

Kolkata: Another feather has been added to the cap of Bengal as the state has recently been declared the country’s number one in 100-Days’ Work, in the aspect of convergence and livelihood augmentation, for financial year 2015-16. This was conveyed to the State Government by the Union Ministry of Rural Development on June 2. The fact was announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a Facebook post. This is not the first time though. Bengal has consistently performed very well in the 100-Days’ Work Scheme, formally known as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Another achievement, along with being overall number one, is that the districts of Nadia and Cooch Behar have won awards under different categories for performing especially well. A party statement said, ” The way Mamata Banerjee and her Government has driven the scheme forward in the state and, as a result, brought a huge change to the rural landscape of Bengal has been acknowledged as exemplary across the country. ” In her Facebook post, Ms Banerjee said, ” Bengal does it again! We are No.1 in the country in 100-days work on convergence and livelihood augmentation for financial year 2015-16, as per announcement of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India yesterday. ” ” Also among the districts in the country for awards under various categories of 100-days work are our Nadia and Cooch Behar districts, ”she added.
