Puducherry: Plan for new industrial policy without harming environment

Puducherry government on June 25 said it proposed to bring in a new industrial policy as per its needs without harming the environment, thus creating more employment opportunities, especially for the youth.

“There is every need to promote industries without affecting the environment so that there will be more opportunities for employment. Our new industrial policy will be a road map for industrialisation and the main thrust would be generation of jobs for the youth,” Industries and Information Technology Minister MOHF Shah Jahan told PTI.

He said a meeting would be held on June 28 with Confederation of Indian Industry to decide on various aspects of the new policy after getting feedback from entrepreneurs.

The meeting would also assess the expectations of entrepreneurs from the government, he said.

He also took strong exception to providing freebies, saying it would only make people lazy and added that work should be given to youth so that they would not be weaned away by distractions.
