SKUAST Jammu ranked India’s 6th State Agriculture University

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu ( SKUAST Jammu) has been ranked 10th in the ranking of Agricultural Institutions in India, the list released by Careers 360 in its 2016 ranking of educational institutions.
Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi has been adjudged the best agriculture institute. First four top slots have been bagged by the national institutes namely Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi; National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar and Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai followed by State agricultural universities.
Among the State agricultural universities, SKUAST of Jammu has been placed at number six, just behind Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.
Out of 826 universities and autonomous institutes that award degrees in India, 288 institutions were shortlisted for in depth study and analysis. The indicators for ranking universities followed by Careers 360 were: academic output (publication count in refereed journals as indexed in Thomson Reuter’s Web of Science and Elsevier’s Scopus); citation in terms of normalized average citation per paper; intellectual property; productivity in terms of research per core academic and research personnel; and learning in terms of accreditation, student-faculty ratio and PhD candidates. SKUAST Jammu topped the list of State agriculture universities in terms of productivity.
